One week and a bunch of boxes later...
Scott and I are moving to on campus housing. We've lived in Springville, a fifteen minute drive to school for about 5 months and we're going to cut back on the stress and live 5 minutes from Campus instead. There are few positives, but a long list of negatives about our Springville basement apartment:
We like this apartment because: 1) it’s close to Walmart in Springville (just down the road), 2) we are close to Jen and Greg, 3) it’s small but cozy and still has lots of storage outside, 3) we have 2 laundry days Tuesdays and Saturday s and it’s not coin operated 4) $465 a month including everything--satellite tv, internet, all utilities...but that’s pretty much where the list ends for me on good stuff.
What's not to like about this apartment? Loud upstairs noises—waterpipes, weird loud, vibrating the ceiling kind of buzzing—vacuum, massage chair? Who knows!? And thudding and thumping from the ppl upstairs, TV noises on Sundays and whenever you want a quiet peaceful place—there TV is ALWAYS on. 2) no dishwasher 3) heat/cold uncontrolled and sporadic 4) only enough place for one couch, not even a chair or nothing—makes it hard to invite ppl over to watch movies or football 5) SNOW sucks—we have a long sidewalk and stairs leading to the entrance of our apartment and it sucks when it snows. Not only that, but the streets don’t get plowed all the way because of cars parking on the sides, so we have to climb around snow to get to our car and then manage to get out of all the snow to leave. There’s also icicles that hang deadly right above our door to get in and I fear that one of these days that icicle is going to be the cause of my death like some urban legend murder mystery—Death by falling icicle. And it drips. on our heads. when we are trying to unlock the door to get in! 6) I dislike our ward—it’s a fully fledged family ward. Too hard to make friends when they stick you in the primary right at the get go and never let you leave it. No one else who teaches primary is really interested in making friends despite our efforts either. It’s really depressing. I miss relief society too 7) Oh man I could just keep going and going and going…But I won’t.
So there you have it--for my sanity and happiness, we will try out campus family housing. If we don't like it? We'll bust another move. But the next move will have to be a little more permanent with our new addition to our little family coming in the summertime.Friday, January 25, 2008

Baby Books
My sister gave me this book on Sunday and I've already read up to page 211 which is week 14--supposedly where I will be at the end of this week. It's a really good book and very helpful. Thanks Jen!!

A NiCe LonG WeeKeNd.
--Friday night, Scott thought it would be nice to go to the temple. I agreed, so we did! It was the first time since I've been married--first time doing it proxy. We now have a goal to try and go at least once a month. Friday nights are insane though, we waited a really long time in the chapel before going in. But it was still really good. We ran into some friends who are temple workers.
--We stopped to get ice cream cones from McDonalds, but fate would have it that their "machine is broken" yeah, sure. :P Don't mess with a pregnant lady's cravings. Luckily we had chocolate ice cream at home, but it just didn't quite hit the spot.
--Saturday we lazed around all morning, Scott made some pancakes (he's a good breakfast maker) and he went to campus around noon. I stayed home--feeling anti-going anywhere--and did some work at home, watched TV, did laundry, and did a work out video that kicked my trash. I'm trying to keep it simple though and get in as much exercise as I can for my baby's sake. Wow that is weird to say sometimes. I've been eating really good though, trying to eat lots of dairy foods because babies suck all the calcium right out of you. My sister told me after she had one of her babies, she had 6 cavities!!
--Saturday night we met up with some friends to go bowling. I bowled a 53 and then a 60!! HORRIBLE. I used to bowl like a 130 or at least break 100 every time!
--Sunday was nice because we had stake conference which meant 10am instead of 1pm and only 2 hours. Also meant no sunbeams!! This next Sunday will probably be our last sunbeam class.
--We had a good afternoon, made our Sunday tradition of Spaghetti and I finally called my mom and talked to her for an hour. Then we went over to Jen's to hang out and play games. Al and Steph and Steve came too. We played Mexican train with Dominoes, and then Sequence and a little bit of Texas Hold'em because Greg wanted to learn how to play. It was funny because Jen ended up winning all the chips all the time and she had just learned how to play!
--Monday we literally stayed in bed til noon--on our laptops and reading books. We got pretty hungry and ate breakfast and showered and then braved the outdoors--icky icky snow!! We had to get to Walmart for groceries.
--After getting everything put away, Scott did dishes for an hour and I cleaned up the rest of the apartment and did laundry. I can't for the life of me think of what else we did last night.
Anyway, it was a nice long weekend.

It's a Baby!
I was half expecting not to hear anything when he listened for the baby's heartbeat--but there it was loud and clear (and fast!)
There's no hiding it now. Here I am at 13 weeks and I have finally both seen and heard the evidence growing inside my tummy.
Here's a picture of our little surprise:
This was the better of the two pictures we had. This was not the official ultrasound (that will be on the 30th because the technician wasn't there today) but Dr Gordon is awesome (and hilarious by the way--couldn't stop laughing the whole time we were there!) and wanted us to get a little peak anyway. It was a lot clearer, obviously, on the 42" plasma screen they had in the room. We could see his little heart beating and we saw his legs kicking around, we saw his spine very clearly (it's that white line at the top of his body--hard to tell when I'm just explaining it without pointing it out to you in person.) He turned his head away, so we only saw his profile for a moment. It was all so incredible. I'm simply in awe.
Due date is July 25th--we may get a slightly more accurate one at our official ultrasound on the 30th, but Dr Gordon said that it's probably really close to that. Now I'm really excited! Up to this point I was just worried and in total unbelief. Now I have the evidence and assurance I needed and can finally feel like I can my friends. (PS, 20 weeks is March 7th--when we found out if it's a boy or girl--I hope it's a boy)
Love Always,

A GirL's Afternoon
We followed it up with a walk around the mall, smoothies and a bag of clothes from DownEast Basics. I got a cute brown skirt, maybe I'll wear it tomorrow.
The downside of going and seeing a chick-flickish movie, is that all the previews are chick flicks as well! We saw 6 or 7 movies that are coming out that I want to go see! Looks like we're going to have to make this a regular thing ;) No complaints here, though. LOVE movies.
slacker blogger
I intend to write at least ONCE a week :P I loved how last summer I wrote all the time, I look back at all my interesting posts back in May and wonder, what the heck happened? And then I remembered, oh yeah--I got married, traveled all over the place, moved into a new apartment, started school and work and lost all free time as we know it. This semester is no better.
I have 5 classes and 20 hours of work--a bigger load than last semester. I'll have one more class to take during Spring term, but it will be totally worth it not to lose my mind in stress. Which isn't good for me--or my hair.
After surviving our first week back at school--and boy was it crazy! We also decided some other big stuff--we're moving back to Provo. We got an apartment in Wymount (on campus family housing) and are moving at the end of this month!! That's not too far away either! The added stress of a commute from Springville in the winter was just too much for me to bear. I could list off all the things I dislike about this apartment..maybe i'll save that for another day. I will only miss 2 things really...living just down the road from the Springville Walmart (which is MUCH less busy than the Orem one) and living only blocks away from Jen and her family. I've enjoyed that a lot.
Anyway, just rambling here.
Going to search for something more interesting to blog about now... Happy Saturday!!
