FRieD-day

I'm so tired!

I've been going to our Stake Women's Fitness class for 3 weeks now (every MWF). On Fridays, a friend of mine--Chelsi--teaches. She kicks my trash every time. In a good way. It takes me the whole weekend to recover and then we're back working out on Monday.

I've come to love going because it's a great workout and there's lots of people to talk to, so it's fun.
And I know I'm working hard because I'm ready to collapse when it's over and I'm always sore the next day! It's a lot of cardio combined with body toning and I've definitely started seeing the results. It definitely beat hopping on the elliptical everyday which is boring and not that great of a workout.

Luke does great too--he eats snacks and walks around the gym with the other kids. (All the other kids just run around and play with balls or toys in the nursery while the mom's workout)

Hooray for Fitness! The end.

The Dentist

I took Luke to the Dentist!

WhY?

Because he's over a year old and he already has 10 teeth (7 in front and 3 molars).

"In order to prevent dental problems, your child should see a pediatric dentist when the first tooth appears, or no later than his/her first birthday." (American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry)
It's important to take your kids early to the dentist to prevent cavities and make sure there aren't any problems. For example when the dentist brushed Luke's teeth his gums bled by his molars--I wasn't brushing his teeth good enough! You may think because they are just baby teeth and fall out anyway it's not that important to take care of them like permanent teeth--but baby teeth are place holders for permanent teeth and not taking care of them may cause problems or damage to the permanent teeth. Not taking care of them may also cause speech eating problems.

At the dentist we did end up just waiting a lot, but they had lots of toys there since it was a special pediatric dentist office. Luke didn't mind too much either. He fussed a bit when he opened his mouth, but overall it was quick and painless. And he got a little ducky, a new toothbrush and a few other little things.

Now just me and Scott have to go--next week. I haven't been in 4 years (oi.) and Scott (1 1/2) So we are definitely due. I wonder who will have more cavities...

run rUN RUN !!

Well I'm proud to say that I've been running fairly consistently since the beginning of MAY!!

I need new running shoes I've run so much.

Things I've L.E.A.R.N.E.D :

It's easier to run with someone (thanks, Katie!)--they help you run longer, not get bored as fast, and push you to go when you feel like dying because they aren't letting on that they are dying so you feel motivated to keep going because if they can do it you sure as heck can too :)

It may be more convenient (for me) to go in the morning right before Luke takes a nap because I haven't showered yet and being outside helps Luke sleep longer--BUT it's harder to run because I have to push the jogging stroller.

So we go at night after the kiddos are in bed most days--we can endure longer because it's easier, and run longer distances because we aren't pushing anything and don't have to worry about fussy babies.

Going in the evening is great too because us sun-haters don't have to fight sun-glare or summer temperatures.

It's also great to have a goal--we're running our firt 5k in August!! It's coming up quick! We can run about 2 miles and feel pretty good so we just have to make it that last mile and we'll be ready!!

And even after all that...I still hate running, and I probably always will, but at least I can run, and I run because I feel like I have to. So. I run.

Run Run RUN.

Well. It's that time of year again.

the sun rises earlier.
the sun sets later.

it's getting warmer. and warmer. and warmer.

What that means for me is this...

Yup. time to tie those running shoes and get a move on.

I got my awesome jogging stroller that I got for a steal through my brother Al, who works at a bike shop. I charge my Zune every night so it will help me keep the beat as I run like the wind. And Luke actually looks forward to our morning runs now as part of our morning routine.

It's only been 2 weeks and I've already doubled my jogging distance and can feel a noticeable difference in my ability to run. the human body is a-mazing that way.

I do miss running with Scott like we did last fall, but our schedule just won't really allow for it anymore so he will just join me on Saturdays now and we'll go for walks in the evenings like we did last summer.

Well, cheers to getting a move-on!!

PS. I wish Tara had won on the Biggest Loser. I know lots of people don't like her, but I did. At least more than Helen or Mike. Poor Mike, lost by a mere 3 lbs! I bet he wish he'd skipped lunch or something that day!

Eat. Drink. and Be Merry...

... For tomorrow we go on a diet...

Well, just Me and it's the South Beach Diet...

In addition to all the running, I've decided to try out the SB diet for myself. I know several friends, my parents, and my sister have all done it at some point with some pretty good results, so I figure--why not, I'll try it too. Not only that, but it's really not that demanding or hard...really only the first 2 weeks are anything like a diet. And it's not even restrictive in the "small portions" sense. So I'm pretty confident I can get through the first two weeks okay. So since I start it tomorrow, today I'm eating everything I've been craving lately---French toast, apples, and chicken pot pie for dinner. Yum.

Let's see how I do. I'll keep ya updated, of course
