Rain?

P1120443-2

Luke has been working on his "L"s lately and it is awesome.  I love hearing him say "umbrel-La" emphasize on the La sound.

I made him say it over and over while we were playing ;)
It really was only sprinkling, and after being stuck in the house for an entire week due to downpours, we just said- Screw the rain! We are going outside!

I just wish Luke had some awesome colorful rain boots!

Getting Ready

This...
...is probably what my desk will look like for the next month.

...I've been accepted into the Lehi City Round-Up Boutique with some friends...for two booths.

Looking back on the decision now, I feel kinda dumb for doing both. I'm not so worried about making enough stuff, but rather the setting up, being in both booths enough, figuring out what do with Luke during those days and figuring out the set-up in a way that is easy to put up and take down 3 times.

For each booth, there are 3 of us.
One is all paper goods--cards, posters, bookmarks, journals/notebooks, magnets, paper art, etc
The other is all hair & accessories--headbands, flower clips, jewelry, bow/accessory holders, etc.

It's going to be crazy, but hopefully it will be fun and worth it!!

If you want to come check us out, the dates and times are as follows:
Wines Park 500 N. Center St; Lehi, UT

Wednesday, June 22 between 12-7pm
Thursday, June 23 between 12-7pm
Saturday, June 25 between 11-5pm

I'll remind you again when it gets closer! Wish me luck!

The Desk is Finished!!!

{insert happy squeal here}

I'm SO so So so Happy!!

I love how this turned out!

{No one is happier than poor Scott, though. He spent a lot of his free time after work trying to finish things for me. He's glad to be done with it! Thanks, hubby!}

Lets remember how we used to have things set up, shall we?

EEK!
What. a. Mess.
It makes me stressed out just looking at it!!
It doesn't help that I didn't bother to clean it up at all before taking this picture back in November.

Lets see how it looks now!

Ahhhh, so much better!

Here's some 'in progress' pictures:

It's so nice to see my vision for this space come to life!
Even better to actually get to use the space!
There's so much more room for stuff too!

Thanks to Ikea for making this desk a possibility

We also bought a circle drill bit and drilled holes into the desk tops for wires. We bought black plastic rings to make the holes look finished.

FYI, if you are planning on doing something like this: We have the computer in the left bottom cupboard, and if we were to re-do it, we wouldn't have put in the back panel at all. It's a major hassle to try to plug anything into the back of the computer. We would have taken it apart and taken it off, but we used wood glue on the pegs holding it together...not sure how easy it would be to pry it apart now? who knows. Scott drilled a big hole in the back and installed a fan so the computer wouldn't overheat in the cupboard.

Still left to do in loft:
Paint Hallways & staircase walls
Reupholster these chairs, or buy new desk chairs...maybe
Install ceiling fan
Sew curtains & install rod
Put up artwork
Throw pillows for the couch

For now I'm just glad it is pretty and very usable! I hated not having a craft desk and I hated having the computer in the spare bedroom!

Hope you like it, too!!

Chalk Labeled Jars

Since I want a cleaner look for my desk, I will have to keep organized.
I have been collecting jars for months because they are great to use for dozens of projects.

I took out my stash of jars and cleaned them all--Goo Gone & hot water work really well to get all the sticky off of the jars.
Next I painted all the jar lids
Next, I cut out stencils from contact paper using my cricut and then I painted chalkboard paint onto all the jars.
It took 3-4 coats to get a nice thick labelThen, I let all the jars sit in the cupboard for a couple days to allow the chalkboard paint to cure.
Then you are supposed to chalk it all over and clean it off before using it.

I bought a chalkboard marker to use because my handwriting is awful with real chalk and it gives it a brighter cleaner look.

Voila!

Just a few more steps until I can reveal our new desk!
