Talk Talk Talk

Luke's language has kind of exploded in the last 4 months!

I've been meaning to post videos and lists of words he says for ages now. Now he talks all the time it's hard to remember what it was like when he wouldn't talk at all!

Luke still signs:
More/Please (same sign), All Done, and Help (on occasion), but now he will say the word while he signs. Unless he is grumpy, then he'll just sign it. He still avidly signs Phone when he says it or sees a phone.

He now says all these words in his cute little voice:
Mama, "Mon-ee" (mommy)
Dada, Daddy
Please
Tank-koo (thank you)
I can't even begin to tell you how awesome it is that he says please and thank you!
Snack
drink
more
cracker
cookie
treat
book-sss (he scrunches up his nose and delays the s a little bit, always emphasizing the s sound)
monkey
cow, mooor (moo)
frog
cat, meow
dog
duck, quack-quack
pig, (he scrunches up his nose and tries to snort like a pig)
nakey (I say he's nakey at bath time, it's more fun than naked)
Go
yuck-ee
walk (he uses this one a lot, meaning he wants to go outside for a walk or just outside)
block
tckle-tckle-tckle (tickle)
uh-oh
owchies
nummy-nummy (meaning he wants a treat)
NO
yes
wa-wa (water)
door
apple
nana (banana)
down
up
bibbo (pillow)
ni-night
bye-bye
auv-uu (Love you--if you didn't know this is what he was saying you probably wouldn't understand it)
eereal (cereal--same here it doesn't sound like cereal)
lap
hun-gee (hungry)
nicely (we tell him to ask nicely, meaning we want him to say please, but he says "nicely" instead)
bonk (when he hits his head)
ite (light)
tub
off
on
"where'd go?" (where did it go? Except we actually say it "where'd go" around here)
Milk
Joose (juice)
die-prr (diaper)

Elmo
Abbee (abby)
Ernie
Bert
Cookieee--Munstrrr
big brrrd

He can say all these as he points to them:
Nose (his favorite)
eyesss
Ears
mouth
head
hand
toes
Elbow
tummy
belly button
chin
cheeks
knees
arm
leg
thumb
(he also wiggles his fingers and sticks out his tongue, blows kisses and kisses your lips and give you hugs, and he gives "nose kisses" where you rub noses back and forth. )

Hat
shoes

wing (swing)
side (slide)
out-siiide
home
cars (car is always pronounced plural, and he calls anything moving a car)
truck (though he is more likely to call it a car)
bike

He counts:
1,2,3, 4,5,6,7 I've heard him count up to seven, but more likely it goes something like this:
"One, tooo, free, One, five, one, tooo, free, six" or a variation of that.

The other day Scott taught him how to sing the ABCs and he was definitely singing along! I was shocked! He doesn't sing all the letters, just a few sporadically, He substitutes "A" for the ones he doesn't know. A, E, F G, P, S, V X are some I've heard him actually say in the song. It is SO cute. (LMNO is a really confusing letter ;)

I know I am forgetting words, mostly because he will say anything you tell him too (or at least attempt it) and he tends to repeat the last word or two of what you say in a sentence. For example I say "let's go" he says "go!"

I'm trying to teach him how to say he is "sorry" because he is at the point where he's starting to be naughty and needs to tell other kids he is sorry. I'm teaching him with the sign for it as well because he will probably catch on faster that way.

We've been trying desperately to get videos of him talking--not an easy feat. But we've got a few. It's also a pain to put them up, so be patient and maybe I'll get them up by Monday ;)

  1. That is so cute! I need to write down the words David knows. It's funny cause when David says, "I love you" it sounds like what you put.
